For the people that were in the contest from the outset, they were governed by the so-called Fifty Unit Rule, which stated that if your score was more than 50 units less than that of the third place participant, you were eliminated from the contest. Anyone who was eliminated by this rule is welcome back into the second half contest at any time, without any need to register.
For the remainder of the contest, the Fifty Unit Rule continues to apply to the season-long contest. If you fall more than 50 units behind the third place participant in the season-long contest, you are eliminated from the season-long contest only.
For the second half portion of the contest, the Fifty Unit Rule also applies, but only in the context of the second half contest. If you fall more than 50 units behind the third place participant in the second half contest, you are eliminated from the second half contest only.
You should look at the contest as having two distinct components- the Season-Long Contest and the Second Half Contest- and the Fifty Unit Rule is applied to each component seperately.
In either instance, if the Fifty Unit Rule eliminates you from either the Season-Long or Second Half Contest, you will not be permitted back into the contest if your defecit falls to less than 50 units after you have been eliminated.
These additional rules were put into place to be as fair as possible to the people who are at or near the bottom of the standings in the season-long contest. If this change was not implemented, people at the bottom of the standings would face a much smaller threshold for being eliminated than people who were already eliminated or people who entered for the second half.
